“The Champion” becomes a platinum-plated Super Bowl anthem for Carrie Underwood

Carrie Underwood earns the seventeenth platinum single of her career this week with “The Champion,” which features rapper Ludacris.

The empowerment anthem debuted almost exactly a year ago, as the opening theme for the 2018 Super Bowl. NBC went on to use it in its coverage of the 2018 Olympic Winter Games as well.

It’s currently available as a bonus track on the Oklahoma native’s Cry Pretty album, which also features her top fifteen hit, “Love Wins.”

Meanwhile, the mother of two is busy taking care of her newborn Jacob, who’ll be a month old on February 21. Next up, she kicks off her Cry Pretty Tour 360 May 1 in Greensboro, North Carolina with Maddie & Taeand Runaway June.
